I have a great book to tell you about! It’s called Take Your Best Shot. It’s about a boy named Jackson, a 6th grade in-house team basketball player, whose parents are divorced and his mom is getting remarried. It’s written by John Coy, and it’s a realistic fiction book. In the story the best player on Jackson’s team moves up to the traveling team. Read it to see what happens when they face an amazing team without their best player. When I read that part, I was shocked. When I was reading about them playing I couldn’t set it down, and if you love shooting hoops then you’ll love this book even more! Like Jackson says, I love this game, and I love this book.
The title of my book is Out Of My Mind. The author is Sharon Draper. This book is Realistic fiction. The main character is Melody. Melody can't walk, write or talk! But Melody does have a photographic memory she can remember everything. But she can't let it out because can't talk. Everybody thinks Melody is dumb except for her mom. Melody's mom knows there is a spark in there somewhere. But what do they know they are not Melody. There is a couple of different problems. One of the problems are, Melody can't talk when her mom enrolls her in school. She can't do anything she sits in the back of the room. But she soaks in information like a sponge. But finally something clears up for Melody. This part had me on the edge of my seat. I finished this 300 page book in 3 days! It was a page turner I couldn't put it down. If you like sad and suspenseful books you would love this one.
If you're a fan of Lauren Tarshis the writer of Storyworks, I Survived The Battle of Gettysburg is the book for you.
The story takes place in 1863 on the way to Gettysburg. Thomas and Birdie are escaped slaves who are trying to find their cousin Clem. Later they run into the Union on their way to Gettysburg. Then Birdie gets kidnapped! Will Thomas and Birdie survive? This is a great book so I recommend it! There are also lots of great words to live by. |
