5th Grade Homework Expectations:
The 5th grade team assigns homework that is directly connected to material taught in our classrooms. On average, each student will have 50 minutes of homework per night. The 50 minutes should include 30 minutes of math homework (ixl, flipped videos, content practice) and up to 20 minutes of subject area homework. The 50 minute time frame may fluctuate depending on your child's individual study needs and work completion style. If your child is regularly falling out of this time parameter, please communicate with us.

WORD LISTS FOR THE WEEK: (100 most commonly misspelled words)
In fifth grade, spelling is taught with a unique focus. It is unlike most subject areas where we look at each individual student, determine where they are at, and work to advance them at their level. For spelling, we have a common goal for every student: to master the 100 most commonly misspelled words within their daily work. We recognize that some students may have already mastered all of these words. If that is the case, they will not need to spend much time each week working on their spelling words. They will just need to complete the morning activities and take the test. For students who struggle more with spelling, they will need to put in additional at home time to study their spelling words.
